Helping Hand & Disaster Pics

Today I decided I had to do something to help my fellow citizens in Washington. As you probably have heard, there were massive rainstorms over the weekend which resulted in incredible flooding. I haven't been able to watch the news these past few days without tearing up (wuss!).

The Salvation Army has a drop station and they are accepting donations of many kinds. I don't have much in the way of cash to donate, but as I looked around my house I noticed a ton of things I can part with. Everything from toilet paper to extension cords and of course I have no shortage of kid's clothes!

It feels good to participate and feel like I am helping someone else out, even in just a small way. It's nice to not feel so helpless, and it's funny how much you can get a sense of community from helping out.

I'm definitely not much of a "joiner", but my conscience gets the better of me at times like this and yells at me to get off my sorry butt and just do SOMETHING...

These pictures are amazing. We've listened to the news but I guess I didn't realize the flooding was so deep. I thought maybe four or five inches. Yea for you to get out and help your community!
